Method of “Inbreeding in Aseel or Gamefowl”
Aseel/Asil is an old chicken breed, and its preserving or breeding is very challenging. Aseel keepers are always concerned that its unique characteristics might be lost during Aseel/Asil breeding. To prevent this, Aseel keepers use various breeding methods and inbreeding type close breeding method is very common in aseel breeding.
Inbreeding in Aseel/Asil or Gamefowl:
Inbreeding in Aseel is a process where we cross individuals within the same breed family to unify their bloodlines, aiming to merge and dominate specific characteristics, body structures, and traits.
Types and Methods of inbreeding in Aseel
- Close Breeding in Aseel/Asil.
- Line breeding in Aseel/Asil.
Close breeding in Aseel
In close breeding we cross Aseel Chicken in very close reltives. This practice is often used to enhance desirable traits within a breed e,g Sibling crossing, Father daughter, Mother son.

How we perform male side Aseel/Asil game fowl inbreeding?
For example, if you have an Aseel/Asil male M0 from a good bloodline and you want to produce similar offspring, you would start by selecting a female F0 from the same family and cross her with the male M0. From the first clutch, select the female offspring A1 that most closely resembles the male M0. Then, cross these selected females back with the male MO, who is their father. From this second cross, select the female offspring B2 that is most similar to the original male M0 and cross her again with the male MO. If you achieve the desired results after two crosses, do not continue with close breeding. If the desired results are not achieved, you can repeat the process one more time. Remember, do not perform close breeding more than three times.

The diagram above explains how to perform Aseel inbreeding on the female side.
How we perform female side Aseel/Asil Game fowl linebreeding?
If you have an Aseel female F0 from a good bloodline and you want to produce similar offspring, you would start by selecting a male MO from the same family and cross him with the female. From the first clutch, select the one male M1 offspring that most closely resembles the female FO. Then, cross these selected one male back with the original female, who is their mother. From this second cross, select the male offspring B2 that is most similar to the original female F0 and cross him again with the original female FO . If you achieve the desired results after two crosses, do not continue with close breeding. If the desired results are not achieved, you can repeat the process one more time. Remember, do not perform close breeding more than three times.
If we have an Aseel or Game fowl male and we want to continue producing offspring with the same traits, but we don’t have a female from his lineage, what should we do?
If you have only one male and you want to continue producing its offspring, you would first need to employ two breeding methods: selective breeding and crossbreeding. In selective breeding, you would search for females from other bloodlines of Aseel that are similar to your male’s bloodline. For example, if you have a Mianwali Aseel male, you would look for a Reza Aseel female, and then crossbreed them.
